What are you focusing on today? Have you given it conscious thought? After all, what you focus on, grows. If you’re looking for problems and things that aren’t working, you’ll surely find them.
On the flip side, if you’re looking for successes and where things are going well, you’ll find them too.
Whether it be with your organization, your team, or yourself, directing your focus can have a big impact on not only your perspective, but also your performance.
Here are some simple questions to shift your focus.
For your organization, ask:
What’s working well and how can we do more of it?
For your team members, ask:
What are their strengths? What are they doing when they are at their best?
For yourself, ask:
What went well for me today? What role did I play in it?
When we focus on where we’re weak and struggling, we only learn what not to do.
When we focus on where we’re at our best as an organization, team, or individual, we learn what success looks like and how to repeat it.
