Imagine sitting through a meeting where the leader opens with, “We need to be more innovative.” Straight to the point, right? But how likely are you to feel inspired or motivated by that statement alone? Imagine instead that the leader begins with a story about a company that nearly went under because it clung to old ways of doing things and thinking, only to be saved by a bold new idea that transformed its future. That’s the power of storytelling—it takes a simple message and gives it meaning, context, and emotional impact.
I believe storytelling is the most influential form of communication, all critical to building a strong workplace culture, effective leadership and powerful teams. Why? Because stories connect us on a human level. It shows the “why” behind the “what”.
Stories have the power to shape a workplace culture, inspire action and deepen relationships.
